As you will know by now, the site, sonicboom.co.za is still down. No prizes for guessing why- TELKOM SA LIMITED.
The day after I was robbed in my own house, we decided to vacate the premises, for safety reasons, and that very next day I applied to have the DSL line moved to the new address. Now you can do this online, easy as pie. I got a call an hour later saying that my transfer is being processed. Got back home and the line was dead. Phoned the number that used to be allocated to it, and got nothing, so something is happening... Sweet, or so I thought.
A week later I had heard nothing, so I decided to give them a call on Friday the 22nd. And, no surprise, NOTHING has been done about it. After me throwing my toys, and getting their social media team rep (TelkomZA on Mybroadband.co.za) involved, I discovered the order was marked as "NOT POSSIBLE" because, there's no spare ports in the exchange, nor is there spare copper pairs.
Well, I am not that stupid, there is an existing copper pair at the new premises, AND, the exchange in the area is quite large, and there are spare ports. Eventually the representative overrides the order and apparently they will do the install on Thursday the 28th of January.
I am not holding my breath for this... because I have YET to receive a text confirming the appointment.
It blows my mind that, it can be so difficult to do something that is so simple. I mean, come on... how hard can this be? Just when it seems this company is "turning itself around" for the umpteenth time, they seem to regress back to their worst period.
All they really need to do, in this order:
* Reconnect the copper pair that is already there, on the MDF in RP exchange.
* Allocate a port to me (yes its an Alcatel OCB283 switch), and cross-connect that port to an open, allocated port on the Huawei MSAM
* Activate the darn thing, and tell me I can plug my modem in.
They must just know one thing, I am NOT PAYING for these two weeks without service, they better credit me.
