I don't have to tell you how stupid most journalists are, and that's putting it mildly. But as we all know, news sells, even if its absolute rubbish. And when the media house is in a "business" relationship with the behemoth MultiChoice, then meeting the daily quota is even easier.

So the tenuous link, that MOST PEOPLE missed here, was that this is an article on IRDETO's website. IRDETO are the notorious company that provide cryptography for Pay-TV, and are known for using illegal/unconstitutionan means to have hackers suppressed, including arrests and other human rights violations, particularly using loopholes in South African law.
So for the sake of those that are not aware:

What or who is IRDETO?
IRDETO is a company allegedly started by the De Toonder family, in the Netherlands, in the 1960s and 1970s based on a certain Mr. De Toonder's invention of encrypting analogue television signals. They use Greek names for their crypto schemes, their most famous being the DELTA system, as used for the old analogue M-NET decoders (the system of scrambling the analogue TV image, and embedded NLFSR encrypted PCM digital audio in the vertical blanking periods). Their product offering followed the trend towards digital satellite television and solutions involving the use of standardized interfaces to CA modules, smart cards and the like.
